About Cryptoccountant
Cryptoccountant is a UK tax firm specialising in crypto investors and traders, operating as an ACCA registered firm.
We work with investors who want clarity around how HMRC rules apply to digital assets, and who require more than a basic compliance service.
Crypto tax is highly technical and extends far beyond simply calculating capital gains. Our role is to help clients navigate that complexity with clear, practical advice.
Our focus is not just filing returns. It is helping clients understand their exposure, plan efficiently and remain compliant.

Meet the Founder
Cryptoccountant was founded by Chris Gill FCCA, a UK tax professional with over 15 years’ experience in public practice and 20 years in accounting overall. He has been a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants since 2012, becoming a Fellow in 2017.
Chris has worked in small accountancy firms throughout his career, managing client portfolios and advising individuals and owner-managed businesses on capital gains tax, compliance and complex tax matters. His approach combines technical depth with practical, client-focused advice.
Alongside his professional background, Chris has had long-standing involvement in the crypto space. From 2019 to 2025 he worked on BitcoinMagazinePro.com, formerly LookIntoBitcoin.com, contributing to the development of one of the best-known Bitcoin analytics platforms. This experience provides first-hand exposure to digital asset markets that complements his specialist tax advisory work.
This combination of tax expertise and crypto understanding underpins the firm’s specialist focus.
How We Work
Crypto taxation is not simply a matter of running numbers through software.
We take a proactive, partnership-led approach to crypto tax. That means:
- Understanding the full picture of your crypto activity, not just isolated transactions
- Focusing on accurate records and reporting as the foundation for good advice
- Helping you plan ahead, rather than reacting at filing time
- Providing proactive planning to manage tax exposure
Compliance remains essential, but our core philosophy is proactive advice. Decisions taken before a disposal often matter more than calculations performed afterwards.
We take a technical but practical approach. Our advice is grounded in HMRC guidance and current legislation, while remaining focused on clear communication and real-world outcomes.
Why Specialist Advice Matters
Crypto is often assumed to be straightforward capital gains tax. In practice, the tax treatment of digital assets depends on how and why transactions occur, and this nuance means outcomes can vary significantly depending on the underlying circumstances.
A proper understanding requires depth not only in tax legislation, but also in how crypto transactions function in reality. Without that combined perspective, important distinctions can be overlooked.
Our role is to provide that clarity, ensuring clients make informed decisions and remain fully compliant.
